• Obituary, 1934, Hagersville, ONTARIO. 30 DANIEL KEEN: OBITUARY:

On Sunday, October 21st, 1934, Mr. Daniel Keen was released from la long period of weakness and suffering and went to his reward. He had been a resident of Hagersville for about fifteen years, having moved from a well-known farm on the Talbot Road in Walpole where he was born in 1847.

The funeral from his late residence was held on Tuesday, the burial taking place in the cemetery at the Stone Church, Walpole and service in the church following.

Mr. Keen was born on the fine farm where he later was married to Miss Margaret Williamson of the same township and member of the same church.

For over forty years the home was one of the brightest and best in the community, a family of three sons and ten daughters being added to it, one little girl being plucked out by death at the age of twelve years. The family was later saddened by the loss of another daughter, who was Mrs. Thomas Falls.

Three sons, Harvey, Ernest and Leslie are farmers near to one another and five daughters, Messrs. Amos Porter, Amos Swing, Orloff Swing, Orloff Easton, James Rutherford and Caldwell, Easton, also reside in the Township and attend the same church. Another daughter, Mrs. Garfield Buchanan, lives in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, and Miss Annie Keen stayed with her parents in
Hagersville. All were present at the funeral, except Mrs. Buchanan, who had visited her father and relatives a few months ago.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. L. Budge of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hagersville, and by Rev. G. Lloyd Evans of Jarvis. In his address, Rev. Mr. Budge referred to the death of Moses, who was taken by God to the top and shown the wonderful world he was leaving. He went on to
explain that when God informed him that his day was done on earth, there is no doubt that he showed him a better country, which made the sacrifice easy.

Mr. Keen had been a long and faithful member of the Church. During the weary hours of his illness he had time to think of the farms and homes belonging to his children, but also had clear visions of the Heavenly Home.

Mrs. Alex Nichol sang with feeling "The City Four-square" and Choir led the praise.

The pall-bearers were W. H. Hobbs, William Clark, William Eubank, W. G. Anderson, Ernest Buckley and Henry Fleming.
