Subject: Jennings family
Hello Norm: I found your email address on the 1901 census.
I am searching for the family of Thomas Jennings, b about 1816 and living in the Markham area during the 1851 and 1861 census. I noted your gggrandfather, Samuel, lived in Markham Twp in 1861.
Both Thomas and Samuel are listed as being from Ireland and both were shoemakers. Thomas married Annie Farrell (O'Farrell). In the 1871 census Annie is a widow living with her son David Jennings b about 1846 in Canada. I can find no record of Thomas Farrell's death. I am trying to confirm brothers of his hoping to learn who his parents were.
They had the following children: Thomas, Jane, David, Martha, Ann, James, Samuel, Harriet, Esther, Elizabeth (Amelia).
I have found records for the three sons. Thomas (1840 - 1905) married Sarah Marre in 1864.
David (1846 - 1887) married Mary Ann Prebell in 1876.
Samuel ( 1854 - 1902) never married.
Daughter Amelia married Percy Kerwin and moved to New York.
Ann Jennings married Josephus Stover, Markham. THIS IS MY HUSBANDS FAMILY.
I note on the 1861 census that Samuel Jennings has a Thomas Jennings listed as living with him, age 74. I was hoping that this is the family I am looking for.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks. Kathie Roedding, London, Ontario
